GReaT trails Kodaikanal by GRT Hotels

Though i started from Cochin to Kodaikkanal for this trip after so much of confusion and hesitation, it ended up being one of the best trip, just because of the very GRT Nature Trails. My previous experience ** had gone wrong many times, so this time i didn't want to take a chance and booked for single night stay only, thinking will shift to some other resort if they don't deliver what they promise, but it happened to be a great stay that i booked it for another night. Situated a bit far from the town, may find it a bit difficult for the first time, but google maps and directions boards helps you getting there. A word to the management, correct the wrong distance markings, though we feel happy seeing the resort is nearby, but even after the said distance, when you can't find any glimpse of the resort, its disappointing. I'm mentioning about the 250m to resort board placed somewhere after Kodai by the Valley resort. I measured it in my odometer, and its almost 750 m, and the condition of the road makes it feel like a 2km. Pros: 1. Courteous staff, very helpful, polite and what not. They r one of the best features of GRT Nature Trails. 2. Excellent location and landscape. 3. Breathtaking view from the rooms. 4. Very well maintained rooms. Kudos to the housekeeping. 5. Nice spread buffet. Cons. 1. Approach roads for the last 1.5km is worse. 2. Too expensive restaurant menu, if you are going for a la carte, a very common practice with resorts. 3. Walkways are so steep, so if you have any old people with you, go for Timber Chalet rooms, so that they can make use of the vehicle service to rooms. 4. Frequent power cuts ( though there is power backup, its kind of annoying after some frequent cuts especially if you are watching TV )

My stay here was, just what a traveler desires the most. You get to enjoy the scenic surroundings around this resort, while being nestled in comfortable European style chalets, and treated to warm Indian hospitality. The view from the first floor rooms are simply superb, when you wake up you get to see sloping valleys shrouded in the early morning mist, and the sight of small birds chirping and a gurgling waterfall, set amidst a lush green backdrop make this the perfect holiday destination for nature lovers. The rooms are very cleanly maintained and have all basic amenities you could ask for. The restaurant serves a very decent spread for breakfast, however I felt there is a need to add to the lunch and dinner menu, you get a very limited number of choices to select from for lunch or dinner. There is a small play area for kids, which will keep them engaged. The resort is situated a bit away from the town, and is easily accessible by a car. The resort has ample parking space. The best part of this place, is the hospitable staff. All the staff are courteous and ever ready to help. A special word of appreciation for Bala and Vinodh, who go out of the way to help meet your culinary requirements. The management takes feedbacks seriously and implements suggested improvements, which is really appreciable. I found that in many previous reviews people had complained of problems while accessing the rooms, this issue is addressed now by having a vehicle to take care of transport, to and from the central area to the rooms. Will definitely suggest this resort as a traveler's delight.

Well Maintained property, located away from all the hustle bustle of kodai, you can enjoy cool, calm and peaceful environs at any time of the day. Would be apt choice if you just want to laze around, unwind, relax. The property is located on a slope, so there is climb up and down to reach restaurant/reception/play area and your room, we enjoyed the walks, if you are not keen on walking, GReaT trails Kodaikanal by GRT Hotels has a ferry jeep service on call for pickup and drop. the property also offers indoor games. Clean and well kept rooms, with a breathtaking view of the valley with large glass windows (ask for room with a valley view). the room has a small balcony which opens into the view. we had a very comfortable stay and sound sleep. For such a wonderful property, Food is kind of let down. We stayed in the tariff package which included dinner and breakfast, But on a glance through the menu, A la carte dinner was quite pricey, the taste and quality was not sufficient to justify the premium pricing, definitely needs improvement. , however the morning breakfast spread was quite decent. Well Trained and Courteous staff. Check in and check out was a breeze, and the staff was eager to help out at all times. Had a wonderful time. Will Return again.

Beautiful property, cosy and comfortable! We stayed for 4 nights at the Chalets, rooms are clean and tidy and super comfortable. View in and around is Scenic with nature at its best! Food was okay but would request the team to enhance the food quality and options as good food is an integral part of holidays. Buffet counters could be better managed and in-room dining experience could also be enhanced. Team and staff overall were very very proactive in ensuring our wellbeing and comfort through the stay. Chef Pradeep took extra care of my elderly parents food requirements, Jinish was very proactive to ensure our comfort. Each member of the team from Reception to FnB, Room cleaners were very courteous,humble and proactive towards ensuring our comfort. Had a pleasant stay and look forward to visiting again during summers! Hospitality - Team and staff overall were very very proactive in ensuring our wellbeing and comfort through the stay. Chef Pradeep took extra care of my elderly parents food requirements, Jinish was very proactive to ensure our comfort. Hey Travellers.. I would say this is one of the best resorts I've ever stayed before..! I stayed here for 4 days.. and the real peace of mind and comfort which GRT gave made me extend the trip for another day. Excellent service and Awesomatic service crew members... Things which impressed me... The ambience, The view.. Food(Expect Biriyani and noodles), Shuttle service to rooms, friendly service..!! They've arranged for a candle light dinner on the very first day (Unexpected and they did it for all the guests.. guess it happens once in a while). Room service guys served a surprise cake at 12 midnight as requested!! Few works TO the GRT guys... Try to hire a Chef/Baker who could make cakes at the restaurant itself... (Cakes were bought from some cake shop if requested). Reduce the amount clove used in Biriyanis... and Noodles smelled and tasted like Semiya (Kindly improve). Fish was thaar maar...!! Thank you Bala.. Viki.. Prakasam.. Thipakaran.. Kanaga and others (Sorry couldn't remember everyone) for your excellent service.

Excellent Place for couple with an outstanding view. Even though, this place is little far from the main kodaikanal city and any small shops. It is certainly worth it if you are looking for a peaceful place to relax and let go everything. Read reviews about food being average, my opinion had been toppled, food is excellent with authentic quality one. This place has indoor games, zip lining through the valley and many more adventurous activities, so even if you just simply stay there, u do have a lot to do than getting bored. Only drawback, to step out of the room to roam about and have food, the restaurant is located way below, so to climb back up, people who hate trekking after eating avoid the rock cabin rooms and prefer timber chalets as they have pick and drop services by a car, which works out well for everybody. Rooms are fantastic. Timber chalet certainly is for a family and not for a couple as they are spacious enough. Front desk services are up to the mark.

This hotel is located in a secluded valley at about a 15 minutes drive from the city centre. The buffets offered are awesome. Chef Pradeep and Mr Swami (restaurant manager) are very open to any feedback regarding your food preferences. Alcohol is not served in the resort. They don't have a liquor license yet. Arrange your own. If you have BP problems, don't take chalets # 300+, prefer the chalet #200s and save yourself the uphill walk by taking the ever-present buggy ride to go up and down the hill. Internet works well in the rooms, room service is good as well. TV has English, Tamil and Malayam channels. The basic game room (carrom board, table tennis and board games) and evening bonfires can be enjoyed by kids. GReaT trails Kodaikanal by GRT Hotels's reception desk offers good suggestions for day trips in Kodaikanal. The cabs that they book for you are reasonably priced. If you are flying in from Madurai, you can book cabs from Madurai to Kodai and back.

This should not be considered as traditional resort where we have all the indoor and outdoor activities. If you want to have a nice view of the valleys from your room this should be right place for you. The plus points for this hotel are 1. Great view from your room. 2. Very silent place. you will definitely love the stay if you come from a noisy place like Bangalore. 3. Very good food(Their menu is not big), all the food we tasted was really good. 4.Very courteous and helping staff, They know all the good places and they can recommend the time to visit each places. 5.Very clean rooms. House keeping staffs are always available Few points they can improve 1. No Bar. you have to go to city if you want to have/buy booze 2. The approach road was not good, I should say terrible. 3. No fridge in room, It's a hill station but If you want to put some milk and all for baby to me fridge should be there. Considering all the plus points I have to give a 5 star

Grt is a good hotel in kodai. I stayed with my friends we were a group of four girls....it was a safe place .. overall our experiEnce was gud in kodai...we stayed just for a night and I got good offers from goibibo. We booked the rock cabin rooms and it was not that great as it was wall facing in ground floor. Please try not to book this as the view is boring.. since it was just a night we hardly spent time in hotel this was fine. Overall grt is a gud hotel and I feel the road is not that bad.. free dinner and breakfast was good . Not many options in starters but ya as it is free it's the best... If your planning for 2 or 3 days just for relaxing please book good rooms as this place is worth. It might be bit difficult for old people as the rooms are bit far. They have a vehicle to take people to rooms. We got the last rooms😓 Each time coming back to room especially after having heavy breakfast and dinner will be difficult .

We had a good time at GRT nature trails as we went for our Anniversary celebration on Feb 27th. First thing we identified was there hospitality which was above our expectation. Rooms were clearly designed with good views as we could see the carrot plantation and hill view which was really pleasant in the morning. We booked in Timber chalet which was having spacious rooms and with good amenities. Only issue we faced is to reach the room from restaurant after the dinner time, As sometimes the shuttle driver will not be available. As we had a chat with the Manager, He informed us they were planning for a elevated lift for fixing this issue as permanent solution. That sounds good.. :) Overall it was a nice place to enjoy our vacation with good tasty food and scenic view rooms. Tip : Better to book rooms with breakfast and dinner as its situated 5 - 7 Kms far from Town. No nearby restaurants.

We stayed here during September 2016 We booked Wooden Chalet. The view from the room were breathtaking. The rooms were clean and well maintained. We opted for the breakfast and dinner package. The food was "OK". The options were limited in the buffet. Some of the starters got over before 8:30 PM, but they managed somehow with another starter. The staffs were well trained and helpful. They have shuttle service to all the rooms as the rooms are located uphill and walking to the rooms for the aged people is impossible. They should improve on the "outdoor" playing area for the children. We felt it was really small. They do have indoor games as well. Pros: Service Room View Cons: We went during a festival time. Sound from the nearby temples ruined our one entire day Location, Last 2 KM drive to GReaT trails Kodaikanal by GRT Hotels was horrible. Poor road Private Vehicles - MUST

Stayed at grt nature trials for three nights...was upgraded to rock chalet for free...it was a nice room...the location was great...they have a 4*4 vehicle that drops us at our rooms from the recetion...food was of average taste...given the rental I would say it was ok...the only issue is the distance from the city...if u want to stay away from the hassles of the city then this is one of the places I would recommend...heard a loud noise at midnight....i had called the reception and no oone picked the phone through out the night...next day I learnt one of their machines had malfunctioned and the staff said no one was there in the reception for the night...in such a place I strongly recommend a staff should stay at the reception to receive the call in terms of emergency...otherwise I had a pleasant stay...thank u GRT mature trails...

Good side of "GRT nature Trails" * Good view from entire Hotel * Between pure nature & you might get similar feeling to Munnar / Ooty * Wooden Rooms (as you can see in the photo) are awesome room with good interiors & fantastic view * Rock Cabin rooms are not of wooden & has not proper scenic view but it's economical ;) Points to be considered * It is far from the main city * Road itself is too narrow & not good. Make sure you've good car like SUV or Sedan. Small cars like Auto, Zen, WagonR, Spark etc. might increase risk. * Going at hotel by night time, is very horrible, less lights, more distance & at night road seems dangerous. * Do not prefer to go there by night. Come by morning or noon, similarly check-out by morning-noon. Do not prefer to travel by night.

1st night we had some problem because of other guests making noice but when we complained about it next day it was sorted out. Stay was amazing. It was our wedding anniversary so got a complimentary cake also. Management tried to take care of every small thing and were always on their toes to serve. Special thanx to bala for making the stay memorable. Resort is so amazing that we never felt like going outside. Far away from city but u will never miss city once u r inside d premises. Food was gud I won't say awesome but it was above average definitely. Stayed there in December and till date every time when we plan to go somewhere GRT kodai always comes to our mind as 1st choice. We stayed in timber chalet and absolutely no complaints about the room.

Amazing place..some 6 kms from lake and they have direction sign boards from all major junction....GPS also helps accurately.. check in time is 2 pm advice roam around till 6 pm locally and come for check in ...cos once you check in you can't come out anywhere as there is no restaurants or shops within 2 kms from hotel ...it's inside a village its best to come back to hotel by max 6 30pm......rooms are neat as we expect and hot shower is 24 hrs 😂 place is safe and family can be accommodated well old people will have tuff time walking from room to their whistlers cafe where breakfast and dinner is served...but they have xylo truck for support . Food is good and served on time ..... would recommend for comfortable stay..

Cons The price is bit steep for the overall value. The location is bit far from Kodai. It is not totally surrounded by Nature. The last part of the road to GReaT trails Kodaikanal by GRT Hotels is bad. More play activities like snooker etc can be included. WiFi did not work. The walk access within the premise should be better. Pros. The service is excellent and prompt. The rooms are very good; in par with foreign country. I stayed in Timber chalet; and it was spacious. Had an additional sofa cum bed. There was no buffet during the weekdays but al-a-carte menu was good with all the varieties. We also did adventure sport like river-crossing and zip-liners inside the premises.

We had our stay from 25dec - 27dec(2nights).AFter going through the reviews we booked for a rock cabin for 1night and timber chalet for 1 night. We had a totally different and awesome experience with timber chalet with a good view and the aesthetic built of the room.spacious room with a kind size bed and also a sofa cum bed.All the staff was courteous and very good at their service. Good food. However the rock cabin was the usual kind of room but with good amenities. They also have different kind of guided tours arranged on request. It is a new property away from the crowded centre of kodaikanal but not too far from the city, hardly 4 km approx from the lake.

Ambiance is too good and service from all staffs too great. They will take care the customers with utmost priority and i booked Timber room around 450 sq feet. which looks great with wood work through out the room. For pleasant view and calm spot Great trails is the best in the city with reasonable rate. only minus is cost of food, dinner itema is much expensive, since it is loacted 5 kma away from kodaikanal city. There is no other option rather than going for their reataurant 1500 rs required minimum for two members. Except that Great trails is best in the class when compared star resorts in kodaikanal as per my view !!

Resort area is km away from kodaikanal city.Road is very much bad to reach hotel.Resprt is not easily approachable from kodaikanal town.Hotel view is good.If you want room service think twice before booking this resort.Well assorted buffet is available for lunch and dinner.Food quality good but taste is ok.Room service almost.Room heater, hair dryer, kettle is available free of cost.Well arranged room with a vally view.Rock cabin is somewhat small.Go for timper chalet.Room cleanings should be improved.We found empty liquor bottle in my room cubboard.It is quite irritable.I stayed with my wife.overall a good stay.

It was a great experience at GReaT trails Kodaikanal by GRT Hotels. This property is surrounded by the hills, We stayed in their Timber chalets ( booked 2 of them). The experience in terms of cleanliness, service and food quality was top notch and have no complaints at all. WiFi was a bit cranky but if you're here for digital detoxification, then this won't bother you. People who prefer to drink alcohol, please ensure you buy your drinks before reaching GReaT trails Kodaikanal by GRT Hotels as they don't have a bar yet and there are no TASMAC ( The name for liquor outlet in Tamil Nadu) nearby.
