can we use clockrooms till evening and use restrooms for 1 ir 2 hours and can you arrange picup facility from kodai road rly stn on 27 jan in the morning about 7 am?
possibly yes. but check and confirm once with hotel staffs through call for 27th Jan.
Are unmarried couples allowed? What are the specific requirements for entry during this covid period?
1. First impression : Quite a nice experience. The staff welcomes you with a warm heart. They would also send a cab to pick you up from Bus stand without any extra charges as they have their own travel desk. We have a garden in the middle, surrounded by hotel premises. In the garden we have a few children play assets as can be seen in pictures posted. 2. View from hotel: We can get a nice view from the Middle Layer and top Layer of Mountains, mist and hotel garden. From bottom Layer, we can only get a hotel garden view. This bottom layer would be helpful for senior citizens as they would require minimal use of stairs. ( Lift not available)3. Staff Behavior: Quite nice staff. They would instantly connect with you and recognize you anywhere on hotel premises and time with you and bring a smile on your face. 4. Rooms: Those are tidy, clean, and well managed. Beddings, pillows, blankets, cushions are well washed and smells nice. No bad odor from any part of the room. There are mini stairs to go to the terrace. We get a terrace view from both rooms and Hall both. 5. Bathroom : > Properly cleaned and well disinfected. > We get a Hair Dryer which is good for ladies especially in cold weather. 6. Terrace: Nice and open terrace with a good view. In rainy weather didn't feel much of its use apart from taking photos :)7. Facilities : > We get almost all kinds of facilities some without charges while others are chargeable.> Non-Chargeable: Drinking water, Dental Kit, Stools, cab pickup and drop without any extra charges. Tea-making stuffs like Milk Powder, Tea Bags and Tea snacks, Coffee powder also kept before you enter the room. A daily breakfast buffet is also included in hotel charges. > Chargeable: Room Heater is chargeable. If you need a room heater then they would charge around 500 per night from 9PM to 9AM. In Nov Last week, we didn't require that. The heater might require in Dec and Jan weather. Laundry services also present at extra charges. (Refer laundry charges in photos attached by me)8. Hotel Location: No issues in finding Kodai Resort Hotel. It is at a walkable distance from Bus stand. Coakers walk, Bryan Park are just next to the resort. Kodai lake is at walkable distance. Actually another side of Bryan Park opens near to Kodai lake itself. 9. Dining and Food : For dining, they have 2 types. One is we can have buffet and another one is just by ordering from menu selecting items separately as per our convenience. Buffet charges for breakfast are included so no extra charges. But Dinner Buffet costs 650 per person. I felt this price was higher though I always used buffet coz of food quality and items variety. We have a startup main course and dessert of all kinds in the buffet. Taste and quality-wise no issues at all. 10. Miscellaneous: We get a 20% discount from Shop on all items like Chocolates, Masalas, etc only for a house guests. They also have Spa on extra charge. As a couple, we liked the Resort location, Room Cleanliness, Resort garden, ambiance, View from hotel, Dining services. Improvemt required: 1. That would be to reduce lunch/dinner buffet prices. 650 per person is high amount. 2. Also please reduce Laundry services charges.
Lodging: This is the best hotel to stay in Kodaikanal. Nice and clean rooms. very good view from balcony. Food: Quality of Food in restaurant is below average. Staff in restaurant stares at you if you ask something. I would recommend better to skip having food in this restaurant. Its better to have outside. Travel Desk: Asif is the concerned guy. He says Rs.**for local trip. we felt that even in outside also same rate so its better to go with him. Thats the big mistake tourists are doing. He loots money. While having initial conversation he says that "brand new Zest" will be the vehicle but later he says that if you need "brand new zest" then you need to wait for more than 30 min. so i said that any vehicle is fine and thats the first mistake i have done. he asked us to get in to some old vehicle and we adjusted for it. Later we came to know that zest vehicle is there in Kodai Resort Hotel itself. My journey started at 11:00 am .They simply shows some tourist places which is near. if we ask some place which is on the way to the place which they are showing then he says that its not in the package. i said ok and that driver felt that i am dumb as i am adjusting for everything. We have skipped few places as i am not interested. That driver asked us to get down at kodaikanal lake (time 3.15 pm) saying that his duty time is done. I said its very difficult to go with a baby to reach hotel and he was not at all listening it and asking us to get down with luggage from car. I was reluctant and he was shouting at me. Finally he dropped us at hotel at 3.30 pm and i have informed the entire episode to Arif and he is such a irresponsible fellow and he was simply chewing some chewing gum and not even listening to whatever i said. Never take the service of travel desk. They simply charges Rs.1500 for 2 to 3 hrs (max 10 kms journey) and other local tour agents (especially Kodai cabs) are charging same amount for almost 8 hours. Bottom line: Kodai resort hotel is "THE BEST" for stay. Food is "BELOW AVERAGE". Travel desk (Arif) "LOOTS YOUR MONEY".
We'd stayed @ Kodai Resort for 2N/3D and I wish this could have been a little longer - 1. Amazing location, close to Coaker's Walk & not much far from Main Market/ Lake 2. Exotic food ... I am not a foodie and I have limited selection, however, I always felt being @ home 3. Neat & Clean property with loads of plants/ trees/ flowers/ fruits around. Good place for Photography as well 4. Class amenities, you'd find everything @ finger tips 5. N here's the main part which we all would like to have whilst on travel - HOSPITALITY .... I would give 10 on 10 for the Service. The staff is more than just courteous, they sense your needs and provide them before you ask for it. The reception team is good (Mr Sundar & team), so it the restaurant (Mr Murugan & team), so is the Travel Desk (Mr Arif), so is the Shoppe (Mr Ajmal) ... I cn go on writing about them for that's the kind of satisfaction that we've had. This place is a "One Stop Shop" for all your needs. They accommodate you in their outing tours, their Shop (Mr Ajmal) has everything which Kodai is known for & guess what, he offers good discounts as well as promises to courier them as & when you want to, the restaurant team (Mr Murugan) is wonderful, you can savor exotic hot food amidst the cold climate outside & they provide all kind of varieties, travel team (Mr Arif) is an amazing man as he goes out of the way to make your tours as well as your journey back home safe n comfortable ... all in all, this is a wonderful & MUST GO place, so pl don't miss this guys. !!! We not only look forward to stay here in the future, but also recommend this to our Friends n' Families.
It was indeed a pleasant stay. Pros: very nicely maintained property with courteous and kind staff in reception and restaurant. Worth spending site seeing inside hotel property for half day.. no need to go out only. Children will enjoy the property and the pets they have in the garden. cons: Buffet dinner is a sad part . Not worthy to take it, as the spread is not that great. The taste and quality is very good. better go for ala- carte or book after seeing the buffet spread after reaching Kodai Resort Hotel. no pre booking plz. secondly, It's obvious that we expect a camp fire in the garden.but on the night we check in, when we asked initially they told it's cancelled and we were sad and planned accordingly. while we came to know that they started camp fire and dance, later and my kid and we missed it.. as we were not planned . They started when many people came and insisted for it.. Though it's not a much costly thing for Kodai Resort Hotel, they tried avoiding it - (to hotel management: PL don't avoid it.. let people enjoy and praise about it).. so request guests to really catch hold of them !! if u really wanna enjoy it... Inform the reception Manager- She will help u. ( I missed to do so ) Toiletries like, dental kit, shaving kit , laundry bag etc, inform in advance otherwise they won't give and u will have surprise and irritation when u really need that ..!! Overall nice experience only , except the very few cons.. all the best.!!
It's a quaint resort, very well located. Adjoining the iconic tourist locations of KODAi viz the Coaker's walk & Bryant Garden, and also being in close proximity to the market place, the resort can boast of providing convenience combined with some degree of seclusion as well. one annoying feature is being disturbed early in the morning by loud Christian missionary broadcasts in Tamil from a nearby church. Rooms are very well appointed. In fact there are two rooms in each cottage, with the outer room providing a couch, a couple of single seater sofas & a single bed as well, probably to accommodate a third person if needed. It has the TV. This room also leads to a terraced portion that each cottage is designed to provide. The terrace affords a good view of the property including a modest sized open lawn. The terrace is also seen from the inner room though not accessible. The bedroom is well sized and provided with a comfortable bed and a spacious cupboards. Breakfast is offered in the usual buffet style as in EP. There's a good variety of North Indian food items on the menu for lunch & dinner. Staff is polite and very responsive to customer needs. We requested for a change of room to obviate the need for climbing several steep steps to reach our room. The request was promptly granted. Other requests too were similarly attended to. Convenience combined with comfort. Rooms and the quality of fittings were a definite plus.
This is my fourth visit to the property and trust me if Kodaikanal is in your mind forget all other places and just book this hotel without a second thought. I received a call from the reception one day before my arrival asking my time of arrival and my requirements like Taxi, Sightseeing etc. Kodai Resort Hotel is beside Coacker's walk and within walkable distance from Markets, popular restaurants and Kodai Lake. Check in was hasle free and smooth. We were received by Ms Angeleena at the reception with a gorgeous smile and welcome drink and within few minutes check in was completed and got the keys. I could see she meet & greet each guest and do her best to help them with check in and other queries which is commentable. There is spacious parking facility and we can even take the cars inside and park close to some of the cottages. The cottages are beautifully furnished and attached bedroom is separated by a small drawing room where TV, Dinning table and Sofa sets are kept. Hot water comes in the Morning and Evening. The restaurant serves delicious food and prices are reasonable. The weather of Kodai mixed with a stay at Kodai Resort Hotel will surely give you a relaxed holiday experience. Whether it be your official visit or personal visit they cater to all your needs. Cheers to the entire team for the great hospitality and services. Looking forward for a wonderful stay on next visit.
My family and I went to Kodai for one night and two days (had to cut our trip short) and we had the most lovely stay at Kodai Resort Hotel. It was nice and clean, and well-stocked with things like a hairdryer in the bathroom (along with other stuff like shampoo, moisturizer, etc. of course), clean towels, slippers for use indoors, a nice, big umbrella to carry around, etc. We had our own private terrace per room, which had a nice view of the mountains and of the lawn outside, which had pet birds and two emus! The staff were very hospitable and friendly, and were very eager to make sure we had a good stay. There's a nice, little library to chill out at as well. The breakfast spread was great, but whatever we ordered for lunch and dinner were about 3/5. The location was awesome, as Kodai Lake, Bryant Park, Coaker's Walk and the bus stop were all short, walking distances away. We hired an Innova to go for a forest tour to Berijam Lake, etc. and Kodai Resort Hotel very kindly arranged for our forest permit beforehand and the driver was also courteous and took the extra trouble of stopping in between our drive to collect local medicinal plants and bring them to us to look at and smell :) and all of it was for just Rs. 1600 for four of us, and one car. It was overall a great stay and I'm very happy with the service provided to us at Kodai Resort Hotel. I definitely recommend staying here.
Good pick at the Price - Rooms are beyond expectation, well trained staff all the way from Main-gate, Front Deck, Concierge and travel desk to your HK / service team, the elaborate check-in (found it a bit odd to have the rules emphasized, yet can understand the need to express them being a leisure destination). The Camp Fire with Music and activities is a good value add on for the place alongside the Games room, and not to forget the affordable Buffets and other optimally priced activities. Location wins the point, as its close to 3 sightseeing places, Bus Stop (which is a good landmark to refer to for f&b outlets). Amenities in room quite decent (even though never got the slippers over the 2 night's stay despite asking for - I will surely overlook the delay (of over 45 min +33 min for water to be refilled) and little issues given that the genuine efforts are put to deliver the best). The team is very thoughtful, they smile, greet and wave a hello each time you pass by. The calls are answered pretty quick at Front desk, Travel desk etc. A true fan of people there and then the property / ambiance. Would definitely recommend it over others in area and also other properties (priced about 20 to 30% higher than this), I was curious to know what other have on offer and did check them out in person - truly Kodai Resort wins the points.
It is mini resort which is very near to bus stand. Walk-able distance from bus stand, park, lake. Hotel has a very long history, it been since British days and has been retouched to give some modern facilities. Room I booked had a mini hall with lcd tv, couple of sofa chairs, diwan with table, hall opens up to a big balcony via the big window door which has a beautiful garden view which you can enjoy with a couple of chairs. Bed room is attached with well maintain bathroom and has a 6ft cozy bed which was little short for me at the legs, generally beds are 6.5'. Rooms are not very huge but are of decent size and being at Kodai dont expect fans or AC not that you would ever need it. It has a good garden with lot of trees and places to sit around and relax. Had a wonderful time in the night with fire camp and music. Resort has gym, beauty parlor, recreation room with carom, table tennis, chess boards, and a place to sit and read books from mini library. Only thing I missed was WiFi at room, though its available in Kodai Resort Hotel lobby. Food was one of the best I had around this area, great ambiance during the night for dinner with candle lights. I got a good deal from Goibibo so I would say best value for the money paid. Definitely recommendable for couple of days stay to enjoy the holiday.
Rooms-5/5: Very good with neat bed and bathroom. They also provide basic amenities like kettle, coffee, tea, drinking water, toiletries etc. Hot water is available throughout the hours. Service 5/5: Service is excellent. You call the reception for anything, it will be in your room in less than 5 minutes. All the staff including the receptionist, restaurant staff, other room service persons are very pleasing and well behaved. Food:4/5 : Breakfast was a very good buffet with a lot of items. BF was complimentary. But I would say that the food was only good and not great. Also the food is overpriced. Parking-5/5: Have plenty of parking. They have parking places seperately near the cottages itself so that you may park your car nearer to your alloted rooms. Location-5/5: Prime location near to Coakers walk and Bryant park, lake. Easy to reach as it is near to busstand if you are using public transport. Suggestions for improvement: 1. The steps leading to cottage was waterlogged as the drain pipes were directed to the steps itself. It was a very bad thing as all the rain water was flowing through the steps. 2. The small water body in the garden was full of mosquito larvae. Either keep it clean or keep it dry. Overall experience-5/5: Excellent and recommend this place for family, couples
I stayed in Kodai Resort for a single day i.e. on 20th May,2015. Being a Club Mahindra member I just wanted to try some resorts in Kodai other than Club Mahindra. I landed up in two resorts one is Pine Borough INN and the other one is Kodai Resort. After checking into Kodai Resort Hotel on 20th morning around 10.30 am I was literally stunned when I saw the Suite allotted to me. Both my wife and myself were really happy to get the room as it was amazing with a biggggg Balcony to relax. It has one drawing room and a bed room. Both the room and the Balcony were giving us wonderful view of the valley. The Resort is by the side of Coakers Walk which is the central Place above the Bryant Park. this is very close to many tourist attractions. The staff are so courteous and one would feel at home when interacting with them for any requirement. We had complimentary Breakfast and i would say that the spread was very good and we enjoyed the Breakfast. Any one would love to try his hands on wonderful menu they have for both Lunch and Dinner. Last but not the least I felt very bad in staying there for ONE day only. I would rather love to go back to them and stay with them for a minimum of 4/5 days and enjoy the beauty of the Resort and hospitality of the Resort.
Had a great stay in Kodai resort hotel. I had booked a executive suite and man, the room was spacious with a living room with TV, sofa and a dinning table, the bed room was comfortable, nice bad and pillows well furnished and lastly clean bath rooms. The best part of Kodai Resort Hotel is its private terrace. It was a great surprise to me when I found that, each room has private terrace as big as the room itself. The rooms are arranged in a manner that it does not intrude your privacy and huge glass windows for both bed room & living room offers good view of the nature. The resort has a private garden, well maintained lawn. Some options for kids to play as well like swing and see-saw etc. The location is another plus for Kodai Resort Hotel, right next to it is the entry to coaker's walk and bryant park. Also, very close to the main center of the town (but still feels secluded). Room service was good but not many option from menu are available to order. Breakfast had the usual buffet that included continental & south, the taste was just okay. But their made to order ones are better. Overall it was a very pleasant stay and I would certainly recommend this hotel over any other...
We booked 2 rooms for 2 nights in October and it was a perfect family getaway. The property is beautifully landscaped with lovely flowers blooming everywhere. And the view of the hills from the balcony cum terrace looks simply awesome. Rooms are very neat and clean. Beds and linen are immaculately maintained, extra blankets are available in room itself. The staff is very welcoming, kind and helpful. They do temperature checks and sanitize properly. Food served at the restaurant is really good and you don't need to go out for food. Special thanks to Murugan and Johnson in the restaurant (the rasam was delicious and should definitely be added to the menu). If it's not raining then Kodai Resort Hotel arranges for bonfire and games if that interests you. There are also arrangements for indoor games, spa and small souvenir shops. Another plus is that the property is very close to Coaker's walk, bryant park and kodai lake; we just walked over to these places as they were so near. It's also great for couples as they arrange candle light dinners (chargeable). I and my family loved the place so much that if we ever visit kodaikanal again we would love to stay at kodai resort.
We booked a non ac room and stayed for two days, it was raining heavily. Room was clean but no fans, table fan available. TV was present. Newspaper available only at lobby. Food will be served to room with some extra charges. The Resort is just a stone throw away from Bryant park and coakers walk which makes it a preferred choice for travellers. Ample car parking available. Complimentary breakfast served is of buffet type; excellent quality with a wide variety of items. Other veg food items which we ordered to our room delivered promptly with good taste. Only dampening thing is even after 24 hours, rooms will be cleaned and linen, toiletry will be changed upon customer request only that too between 12 to 3.30 P.M. We were present in the room but housekeeping didn't arrive. However, our request was considered in the evening by the manager and necessary arrangements were made. There is a games room for children where they can play carrom, Table tennis, chess etc. Green landscape, well maintained flower garden with provision for campfire is an add on. Overall pleasant experience.
The location and the ambience is just perfect. You might as well avoid cab/ touring guide as surrounding this place is the most attractive tourist spots - Coakers walk, you might as well visit this place twice, for sunrise and sunset! And then there's the lake, an afternoon stroll is just splendid(Not a fan of boat rides, if you love to pedal you might as well try this out). And close by the lake is Bryant park - an absolute beauty when you visit in season. Back to hotel, ordering food indoors is a bit expensive. There are plenty of options to dine out, less than half a kilometer radius - Astoria, Hilltop and couple more decent hotels for a comparatively cheaper price. Room service staff and their hospitality is welcoming. I visited in off-season and there were lesser guests. So they were easily able to cater to my requests promptly. Hot water shower is available only between 6-11 morning and 6-10 evening. Would have been lovely if it was available round the clock. And if you need hot water you might want to pay 350+tax for availing water heater during the nights.
This was my first trip to Kodaikanal, and I was looking for a resort which gives me natural experience of mountains and nature from room itself. I booked this considering good reviews and location, and I was thrilled as soon as I checked in to the room. It was exactly as I wanted. Each cottage is given its private balcony (very spacious compared to other resorts) which I enjoyed the most. On requesting, the receptionist gave me a cottage with highest altitude for which my heart emerges that may God fulfill all her dreams. All staff are very much cooperative and very polite. Breakfast was very good but I didn't liked dinner which I ordered in room. The resort has a garden where you can play cricket, badminton etc. Also there's bonfire arranged every evening in the garden. Also there are indoor activities like table tennis, carrom, chess. Overall I loved the place and I will definitely visit again with family. Thank you (reception team) for giving such a great cottage and making my first Kodaikanal trip very memorable :) Dinner menu and taste.
I stayed there during New Year.1) Accommodation (5/5): The rooms were clean, very comfortable, and the staff was amazing. They went beyond to help make our stay enjoyable. Beautiful downtown hotel with nice views. Rooms have a historic feel with quaint style. Staff is wonderful and accommodating, providing upgrades when available.2) Food (4/5): We opted for Gala Dinner. The diner was delicious. But they need to improve on the breakfast part. Helpful staff, and good service3) Location (5/5): It is situated within the city. Easy to reach. Walking distance to everything downtown. The location is just perfect for a walk around the city center. As it is within the city, you cannot expect hilly view from here.Overall(4.7/5), I had a great experience with the Kodai resort; staff was incredibly helpful, and the amenities were great. Just perfect place to celebrate any occasion. I highly recommend this resort to anyone visiting Kodaiknal. The environment was pleasant and welcoming. Both check-in and check-out were professionally handled and easy.
Easily accessible. Good location. Nice property, neatly maintained. We were welcomed with a drink and check-in process was smooth in reception. Rooms looked older but well-maintained except the room entry door. There was an electric kettle with drinking water and some snacks in jar and few milk powder, coffee powder and sugar packs for refreshment in room. Washroom was small but neat and clean with separate small shower room. Toiletries were provided with a hair dryer. Most rooms had balcony, we were provided with room with balcony but with a sit-out place with chairs in garden surround. The lawn downhill was not big and just ok to have fun at night with campfire and music. There were few ducks and turkey in lawn. Minimal play equipments for children to play. The complimentary breakfast in Overdane restaurant was very good with decent spread of items. The staffs refilled the items regularly and food was excellent to taste and fresh. Overall a good comfortable stay at a nominal price. Sure to visit again Very comfortable and safe
Its fairly a ok kind of resort but can be maintained better. The rooms should be disinfected properly to avoid insects and other creatures from entering the room. The doors and windows are very difficult to handle and close. All locks are out of shape. The windows donot have grills and cannot be locked properly, creating a safety hazard for the guests. The charges for the amenities are really high. Room heater is Rs. 500 for 9pm to 6am.The free breakfast menu in their restaurant are repeated every alternate day and no much variety. If you stay for more than 2 days, you end up in eating the same menu. The toilets are clean but the taps, showers are not maintained and at times do not work properly. Water supply is very slow. Hot water supply is only for specific time periods in the morning and evening. This is really bad. The staff are really courteous, and very friendly. Location is good. To conclude that. for the bill that we are charged we get only 65% value for our money.
* Nice Location- Very close to coakers walk, Bryant Park and Lake area. * Rooms were neat and clean. Bathroom fittings and tiles shows the age of the resort. * No A/c or Fan in the rooms-which are not required though for that weather. * No night lamp facility in the rooms which makes little discomfort in the night. * Toothbrushes and Toothpaste were not provided. Only Soap, Shampoo & body lotions are provided. Please plan to bring it. * If they serve evening time Snacks, Tea and Filter coffee (instead of machine coffee & tea bags) that will definitely make the weather and resort more enjoyable. * Night food was completely waste. Not worth at all. Since it was raining, we could not go out and had only option of having dinner in the resort. South Indian breakfast was decent. * Reception guys don't have information about the buffet rates. Waiting time for check-in and check-out was little more.
